Affiliate programs are probably the only legal way you can make money online for free. They are free to join and the really good ones will provide you with all the tools you need to start earning cash: you can get free web sites or design services to improve the web site(s) you have already built, you can get SEO advice, original content especially created for your type of customers, tracking tools to follow your orders and your money etc. And some free affiliate programs will provide you with really great tutorials about how to become a good marketer.
Say you want visitors to contact you for more information. This is something you might want for a lot of reasons: maybe you feel better if you can explain over the phone all the details about a product or maybe you want to send out brochures and how-to eBooks only to those people who are really inclined to buy from you. Don’t just say “more information.” People might expect to see more information on another page of your website. For others to understand you, say “contact us for more information.” Maybe it doesn’t sound like a big deal, but when outcome does not quite live up to the expectations, people get turned off; people will not do what you want them to do. So be extra careful that the wording is clear or people will feel purposely misled. -
You can use only a limited number of words before people get too bored to browse your web site, so do not waste any of them by duplicating what you are saying. For example, “Click here to order MyLipPlumpers!” tells visitors what to do twice: you want them to click and to order. But why should they order anyway? You can easily improve on this by changing it to “Order MyLipPlumpers and watch him stare!”
This is better because it tells your visitors you want them to perform an action (sort of an order) and it gives them a good reason to do so (to attract the admiration of others). If you choose the right words, you can write better copy without making it boring or unintelligible. It’s not how many words you use, but what words you use.
Many websites, especially business sites, seem to suffer from some kind of disease where even the very simplest task takes too many steps to achieve. If people are emailing you to ask how to do things on your site, then you need to improve your layout and navigation. And remember, if there are certain tasks people seem to want to do more often, put them on the front page.
This is not the kind of advice you will find readily available on the Internet, but it is exactly the type of good example you can expect to find on a good tutorial made by seriously dedicated affiliate managers. It doesn’t have to take years to learn how to do well as an affiliate marketer. The most important thing is to find a good program that will help you understand your customers and your business and make the most of what the Internet has to offer.
